The Problem
Under Armour needed to highlight the million-to-one odds that NBA star Joel Embiid and volleyball player Jordan Thompson overcame to reach the pros in two television commercials. The challenge was to create visuals that showcased their talent while delivering a powerful message about perseverance.
The Solution
I crafted dynamic motion graphics that brought the commercials to life. The text animation featured a decreasing number counter synced with exciting footage of Embiid and Thompson, adding urgency and drama to their incredible journeys—like the tension before a buzzer-beater.
The Process
Concept Development: I collaborated with the creative team to brainstorm ideas that captured the athletes' performances and the message of overcoming the odds.
Motion Graphics Creation: I designed the text animation with the decreasing number counter, ensuring a seamless integration with the footage. If it didn’t, it would be like watching someone miss a layup—just painful and completely unnecessary.
Finalizing the Commercials: I worked with the editing team to refine the timing and effects, ensuring the graphics enhanced the high-energy action of Embiid and Thompson.
Through this process, I delivered motion graphics that not only elevated the commercials but also reinforced Under Armour’s commitment to excellence—because if these athletes can beat the odds, we can certainly face the chaos of the creative process without losing our sanity!
